SEARCHING POTHOLES AT THE PALM BEACH ROAD!

When I told my non-cycling friend that we went for Pothole Hunting at the Palm Beach Road, he smiled and said “welcome to the unofficial cycling trend of the season”. The Plam Beach Cruise with the Giant Riding Club (GRC) transported cyclists straight into heaven. Rolling on the smooth asphalt with trimmed trees on one side and a beautiful sunrise view over the lake is a much sought after moment for riders in Mumbai.

The Palm Beach Cruise:

On 25th January 2026, a group of 181 cyclists from all across MMR region rode to the NMMC headquarters in Belapur. Organized by the Giant Riding Club, this ride gave many cyclists an opportunity to ride on a nice and well-maintained stretch of the palm beach road.

The initial part of the route starting from the Giant Bicycles Exclusive Store in Santacruz was a little tricky especially after we crossed the BKC connector and encountered the highway traffic, but once we moved towards the Vashi toll, then it was a relaxed and confident spin.

As the roads opened-up in the Belapur segment, the vibes were great and we pedaled with a steady rhythm. The views of the horizon and the breeze is a reminder that why we love to cycle in the morning and the sport is an ultimate stress-buster.

Engagement Programs:

It was a moment of pride watching the Indian Flag soaring in all its glory with NMMC dome standing firm in the backdrop. We had two announcements to share with the cycling community – first the National Voters Awareness Day led by the FIT India representative and second, the briefing of the CISF Vande Mataram Coastal Cyclothon by the CISF officials. Deputy Municipal Commissioner Mr. Vishwas Mote also addressed the participants about the FIT Mumbai chapter and encouraged them to actively take part and promote a culture of fitness and healthy lifestyle in the neighborhoods.

Century Rides:

A few riders went the extra mile and capitalized on this unique opportunity of riding long distance. The weather was perfect and inviting people to push their limits. The result: several riders finished with three-figures on Strava riding over 100kms. Thanks to the Giant Riding Club for helping riders to train and build endurance with a community support.

Where are we going next?

Our pothole hunt shifts focus to the north side of the Mumbai city on 8th February 2026. We plan to go on a spiritual journey at the Global Vipassana Pagoda along with the Giant Riding Club. Everyone is invited to join this ride, to know more, follow @giantridingclub on Instagram and the Lead Rider Vijay Malhotra @pedalandtringtring
