The Bombay Municipal Corporation (BMC) Building aka the MCGM Headquarters is located in the Fort area of Mumbai, opposite to the CSMT railway station – which is a UNESCO world heritage site. Both these iconic landmarks were designed by the British architect Frederick William Stevens, who worked for the British colonial government in India.

My search for a title for this blog ended when I was listening to music and came across a classic Hindi film ‘An Evening in Paris’. Not that this movie was filmed at the Bandra Fort in Mumbai, but it somehow resonates well with the place, because a host of actors from the film fraternity have graced this historic site.

Victoria and Albert Museum was commissioned in 1855 as a treasure house for decorative’s and industrial arts. The oldest museum of Mumbai located in Byculla was renamed as Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum in 1972 to honor Dr. Bhau Daji Lad (1824-74, an Indian physician and scholar).

This museum is set-up in two buildings –

The Keneseth Eliyahoo Synagogue is an Orthodox Jewish synagogue located in Forbes Street (renamed as V.B. Gandhi Marg) behind Kala Ghoda square in Fort, Mumbai. The Keneseth Eliyahoo Synagogue is the oldest sephardic synagogue in the city (Sephardi or Sephardic are Jewish ethnic group originally from Sepaharad, Spain.)

The island city of Mumbai (previously called as Bombay) has over hundred churches safeguarding the strong religious culture and history of our society. Some churches were raised during the Portuguese era between sixteenth and seventeenth century. And when the Britishers took over from the Portuguese in the later half of seventeenth century, a number of churches were commissioned during their rule. With an increasing english speaking population in the city, the need to have a place of worship was felt by the rulers.
