JOIN MISHREE DOSHI AT THE JIO MUMBAI SUSTAINABILITY CYCLOTHON 2023

Jio Mumbai Sustainability Cyclothon is less than one-month-away, and the excitement is really building up. Participants are enrolling fast for the marque event on www.champendurance.com. This year will be double the fun and entertainment along with cycling.

People of all age groups are registering for Jio Cyclothon and one such participant I came across is 10-year-old young girl Mishree Doshi. The first question came to my mind was “Will Mishree Doshi be the youngest girl participant at Jio Cyclothon? Or will there be participants younger to her at the event?

I was also impressed with her fathers decision to give her an outdoor life rather then making her prone to a sedentary lifestyle which has its disadvantages.

Life is better outdoors:

We are living in a digital age in which gadgets and video games have replaced traditional toys and outdoor activities. Children spend more time indoors using mobile phones compared to before. According to a study, ‘if a child is given a smartphone at an early age, there are more chances she has of suffering mental health problems as a young adult.

Whereas children who spend more time outdoors get to interact and feel the surroundings which helps building their sensory, social skills and mental abilities.

Example of Mishree Doshi:

To state a case, Nikhil Doshi, father of Mishree Doshi didn’t handover her a mobile phone to keep her engaged as most parents do; rather he brought her a balance bike at the age of three.

Nikhil Say’s, “Mishree started cycling at an early age and has become a confident rider in quick time. Cycling has helped in her learning and development and lead an active outdoor life. I teach her about road safety and precautions to reach home safe.”

Mishree has participated in several cycling and running events and earned medals and certificates. She has been instrumental in inspiring her peer groups and seeing Nikhil, other parents are motivated to engage their kids into cycling too.

Nikhil explains “Mishree has an excellent academic record and active in sports such as swimming, skating, stage performances and fluent in English communication. She has the zeal to shine under the guidance of seniors and can be a potential candidate for Junior Bicycle Mayor.”

Interview with Mishree Doshi:

During a video call, I asked Mishree Doshi what she likes about cycling she said,

“What I like about cycling is that it keeps us healthy and fit and also helps us to be active.”

My next question to her was how excited are you for the Jio Mumbai Sustainability Cyclothon 2023?

“I think Jio Cyclothon will be the only chance to ride on Rajiv Gandhi Worli Sea-link which is one of the iconic places in Mumbai.”

My final question to her was What do you want to become in future?

“In future I would like to join Sainik School to serve defense wings of India.”

If you think Mishree Doshi’s story inspires you then join her for this event.
