On a Saturday evening (30th March 2019), a silent protest was organised at Nariman Point – Marine Drive peninsula bay in Mumbai. Several NGO’s, environment groups, non-profit foundations, citizen groups and individuals came together to form a HUMAN CHAIN. This gathering of more than 1000 people was an expression of disapproval in the way environment is getting compromised in the name of development.

The 4th edition of the popular cycling event ‘Ride To MPower’ was held at NSCI Dome Stadium, Mumbai on 17th March, 2019. ‘Ride To Mpower’ is an initiative by Aditya Birla Capital to raise mental health awareness. A huge crowd of 1600 cyclist’s participated in the cycling rally with great enthusiasm.
The annual cycling event led by Neerja Birla and her team aims to reach out to people with mental limitations and empower them by providing a social platform where they can interact, connect, explore, overcome their fears and feel more confident. Continue reading “RIDE TO MPOWER – 2019”
It is said that “Knowledge is of no value unless you put into practice”. And with this very belief Mr. Faisal Thakur, former BMX Champion & Owner of Pro9 Bicycle Studio designed a SOLAR POWERED ELECTRIC CARGO CYCLE (SPEC BIKE).
A marketer by academics and a cycling entrepreneur by choice, Faisal fully conceived, planned and developed the concept of a solar bicycle in his studio by roping in few school students. He formed a team of 22 students from nearby schools and started to work on this project a week before the Republic Day Parade which is held annually by BIRD at Bandra Bandstand on 26th of January. On 9th of December 2018, I attended a cycling rally organised to create awareness for diabetes amongst the public in general. It was the third edition of cycle rally for diabetes. More than twelve hundred cyclists arrived to attend the event at Kala Ghoda, Fort Mumbai. Total distance was 13.8 kms, from Kala Ghoda in Fort to Suryavanshi Hall at Dadar. The Swasth Bharat Yatra rally started from Leh on 16th October 2018 on ‘World Food Day’ and since then has covered a road distance in excess of 4800 kms with the help of 7300 cycling volunteers collectively touching 500+ destinations (Figures as on 11.11.18).
