A proud moment for the cycling community as Madhya Pradesh resident Varun Namdev has successfully completed the world-renowned “Everesting” cycling challenge, one of the most gruelling ascents in cycling. Varun climbed a total Elevation Gain of 8,973 meters, exceeding the height of Mount Everest, the tallest peak on Earth. He completed this remarkable feat in 23 hours and 51 minutes, marking a new milestone for the state’s cycling community.

In addition to the Everesting challenge, Varun has several other significant achievements to his name. He was the first cyclist from Bhopal to complete the 3,600-kilometer Kashmir to Kanyakumari (K2K) cycling expedition in 2021-2022. In 2023, he also completed the IRONMAN Goa 70.3 triathlon, and in 2022, he successfully finished the BRM 600-kilometer cycling event. These achievements have made Varun a symbol of endurance and determination.
Everesting is regarded as the ultimate endurance test in cycling, where cyclists attempt to climb the equivalent height of Mount Everest in a single, unbroken ride. Varun’s success reflects not only his personal dedication but also the commitment of his coach, Praveen Sapkal of Super Athlete, who crafted an intense training program to prepare Varun for this challenge.
Expressing pride in Varun’s achievement, Coach Praveen Sapkal said, “Seeing Varun accomplish this gruelling challenge has been incredibly inspiring. His hard work and determination have paid off, setting an example for athletes in our state. This achievement will inspire others to push their limits.”
Varun Namdev extended his heartfelt gratitude to all the volunteers who supported him throughout his journey.
He said, “I am deeply thankful to everyone who came forward to support me. I couldn’t have achieved this without their help.”
This milestone has ignited new energy within the cycling community of Madhya Pradesh, highlighting the region’s growing enthusiasm for endurance sports.
