JIO MUMBAI CYCLOTHON 2023 PRESS CONFERENCE AND JERSEY LAUNCH

Cyclothon and critical mass events are a great way of nurturing a cycling eco-system. Gear up for the second season of Mumbai’s most awaited cycling event ‘Jio Sustainibility Cyclothon’ which will be held on 17th December 2023. Champ Endurance, the organizers have released its new and refreshing Jersey at a press conference meet held on 27th October 2023 at the Radio Presidency Club, Colaba.

The jersey is made of finest sports fabric having a logo and bright neon colors with the iconic Bandra-Worli Sea-link print. All participants will get access to ride on the Sea-link and get a life-time experience with all safety and support measures in place.

Jio Mumbai Cyclothon is one of the most coveted cycling event and offers the best experience to all its participants. The objective of this event is to bring together more environment-conscious people and enable them to contribute to making the world a better place for future generations. A lot of expert groups get involved to plan this event and after holding successful events in Pune and Mumbai last year, the organizers are working in full swing to deliver a memorable cycling experience to all its participants in season 2.

Pravin Wani, the event organizer from Champ Endurance said that “We are in touch with the Indian Railways which will be running special trains on the event date. All cyclists will be able to carry their cycles on the train free of cost to reach the venue.”

Last year, the 1st edition of the Jio Mumbai Cyclothon received an overwhelming response with over 5000 cycling enthusiasts participating in the event that got tremendous support from the government, authorities, corporates, cyclists, and citizens at large.

Present at the press conference were Race Director and IPS Officer – Krishna Prakash, Vishwas Mote – Assistant Municipal commissioner BMC and Bicycle Mayors – Dr. Vishwanathan Iyer (Mumbai), Sudhir Chakole (Panvel), Chirag Shah (Thane), Event Ambassadors and Media fraternity.

Krishna Prakash in his opening remarks elaborated on the several benefits of building a cycling culture for a sustainable future. He said ‘With the invention of the wheel, the humble bicycle has been a long serving companion to mankind. Unfortunately, we have drifted towards usage of motorized four wheels. It’s time we realign our focus on using human-powered wheels as much as possible.”

During the media interaction, Vishwas Mote assured of extending full support to make Jio Cyclothon a massive success and continue to work towards creating cycling eco-system in the long run.

“The Jio Mumbai Sustainability Cyclothon is an initiative to promote cycling as a way of life. Commute cycling is the key to sustainable living, since a bicycle is the most efficient transport medium for small distances.” – Dr. Vishwanathan Iyer quoted.

Sudhir Chakole in his appeal to the citizens said, “This is a great opportunity to join the community in its effort and vision to achieve green and fit Mumbai, do show-up in large numbers”.

Responding to the media Chirag Shah quoted “Jio Cyclothon is a fantastic initiative especially for beginners who just want to start their cycling journey. Such critical mass event motivates people to start cycling and when they will see 5000+ cyclists coming together with all their safety gears they will surely be inspired. It will help led our cycling movement and our moto which is to make Mumbai a cycling friendly city.”
