Lt. Col. Bharat Pannu from Rohtak, Haryana became the new record holder for the Fastest Cyclist To Cover Kashmir To Kanyakumari Route (K2K). Riding from Northern tip of India, Bharat Pannu covered a distance of 3600 kms and reached to the Southern tip passing 13 states enroute creating a Guinness World Record. Globally cycling community is quite large and well dispersed with diverse cycling experiences. I reached out to them through an online poll to get a measured response to broaden our perspective on the topic we are trying to decode. A poll conducted on twitter revealed that 77% of cyclist were chased by a dog during their life time while 3% were chased by an animal other than dogs. Dogs and Humans have been friends from many centuries. Unlike any other animal, humans are more comfortable to share love, space, food and even toys with dogs. In urban cities, people adopt dogs and offer free shelter despite high real estate cost. Some dogs are fortunate to enjoy facilities like open spaces and gardens in the backyard of farm houses in the country sides. One day when I was commuting back home from a meeting late afternoon a dog appeared from no where and came charging at me aggressively. I stopped pedaling to slow down but the stray kept his momentum. I got off the bike in a hurry as a precautionary measure otherwise I would have landed at a nearby dispensary for sure. No cyclist would like to get bitten by a dog. Even though I was pretending to be strong that moment but internally fear had overpowered my courage. Gökhan Kutluer is a digital marketing expert, specialized in social media management, SEO optimizations, photography and PR. He is also a writer and published his first book ‘Cloud Factory’ including 17 short stories which later got adapted into a theatre play in his homeland. Paul Richardson is a 46-year-old athlete from Scotland. Paul is married to Keira (a keen runner who is doing the London Marathon this year) with 2 kids (Finn 8 and Ava 10).
Paul lives in Lauder in the Scottish Borders which is an amazing part of the world. Paul loves to cycle and runs in different trails as well as likes going on holiday and socializing.
He has taken part in many cycling and running events including – Edinburgh Marathon, Mighty Deerstalker, Caledonian Etape, Ken Laidlaw Sportive, Tour of the Borders and Edinburgh to St. Andrews.
