The sun gradually appears over the Arabian Sea, casting a warm glow on the historic structure. Beneath the iconic arch of the Gateway of India, a sea of bicycles gathers. Their wheels spinning in the morning light and with red blinkers torching their way to dawn. This is a special occasion. A gathering of Giant Bicycle Ride (GRC 2024), a popular cycling event that takes riders on a journey through the heart of Mumbai, culminating at the city’s most recognizable landmark.

Today morning I read a sad news of a runner being killed by a speeding car at Worli in Mumbai. This is not the first time that someone doing a fitness activity has lost his/her life in an car accident. It has become dangerous to go cycling and running even in the early morning hours. Drunken driving is prevalent in urban cities which is a matter of great concern.

There was a man named Rama in his mid-thirties who decided to start cycling again in adulthood. One day he went to a bicycle shop and inquired about various types of bicycles available in the market. The shopkeeper explained the USPs of all the models and gave Rama a test ride of three major types of bicycles – Road Bike, Hybrid Bike and MTB.
