MARK RUTTE CYCLES IN BANGALORE; ERIK SOLHEIM IN HYDERABAD
Two big things happened to the Indian cycling this week. Prime Minister of the Netherlands cycled in Bangalore with Sathya Sankaran, the bicycle mayor of Bangalore. And Erik Solheim, former environment minister of Norway cycled in Hyderabad city with Santhana Selvan, the bicycle mayor of Hyderabad.

EIGHT EMINENT PEOPLE I MET IN THE NETHERLANDS
I have been following the Dutch Cycling Culture from the last five years and always thought that someday I will visit the cycling paradise. After six months of meticulous planning, finally I visited the Netherlands in June 2023. Since I had planned my trip in advance, I emailed some of the important people in the cycling industry and secured an appointment with them.

MUMBAI GETS A NEW BICYCLE MAYOR
Dr. Viswanathan Iyer has recently been appointed as the new Bicycle Mayor of Mumbai by BYCS – a non-profit organization based in Amsterdam. He is a brain and spine surgeon by profession. He has been cycling since 2011 and uses his cycle to commute to his clinic and hospitals very often. He was the T-ward bicycle councilor for “Cycle Chala City Bacha” (ride a bicycle and save the city) and conducted many cycling promotion activities. He can speak multiple languages and that helps him connect with many people. He dreams of the day when maximum Indians will cycle to work!
