
Utrecht tops the ranking of most bike-friendly cities from across the world a recent study reveals.
Luko, a Paris based online insurance company has released the Global Bicycle Index Study 2022.
The study selected 90 cities from the world and analyzed them on six key categories with a score that makes them friendly for cyclists.
Each city was ranked on a scale of 1 to 100, based on their weather conditions, percentage of bicycle usage, crime and safety, infrastructure, bicycle sharing and events.
Utrecht in the Netherlands ranks 1st amongst the most bike-friendly cities in the globe with a score of 77.84. At the second spot is Munster in Germany with a score of 65.93 and Antwerp in Belgium with a score of 60.51 takes the third rank.
Copenhagen ranked fourth, and missed the podium by a narrow margin while Amsterdam secured 5th position.
Malmo in Sweden is at 6th rank while Hangzhou in China ranked 7th and is the only Asian city that made it to the top 10 list which is dominated by European cities.
Bern in Switzerland takes 8th position whereas 9th and 10th spots are taken by German cities – Bremen and Hanover.
New Delhi is the only city from India that stood at 79th position in the Global Index study, while the UK has a representation of three cities -Bristol, Edinburgh, and London.
Post COVID-19 pandemic, there is a worldwide boom in the use of bicycles as an efficient, practical and reliable solution to urban mobility. Many cities are sensitized to the issue of global warming and focusing on building infrastructure and improving facilities to accelerate cycling as a daily mode of transportation with a goal to make cities livable and sustainable.

Interesting list. I have enjoyed cycling in twelve of these twenty cities so far.
A similar ranking has been done several times (every two years until 2019) by copenhagenize.com. https://copenhagenizeindex.eu/about/the-index
You are indeed lucky to have cycled in the top cities, thanks for sharing the link and visiting my blog.
If they want to do it fairly, all cities in the Netherlands would rank the top 100. So which means this list is not truthful.
