German bicycle brand BERGAMONT has launched its first flagship outlet ‘i-Ride Store’ in Mumbai. The store is designed on global guidelines and will emphasize on test rides and custom bike fits for its customers.

Bergamont India, owned by the Swiss sports goods company Scott Sports SA inaugurated it’s first concept store on 16th February 2020 in Mumbai. Located at Wadala, the store will offer a wide range of semi-premium and premium bikes across road, hybrid, mountain, gravel and e-bikes segment.

Speaking about the launch, Jaymin Shah, Country Manager Scott Sports India said “We are extremely proud to launch the first BERGAMONT i-Ride store in India which is focused towards delivering a quality cycling experience. It’s conceptualized keeping in mind the changing infrastructure and growing awareness about health and fitness. A bicycle is now not only a lifestyle product but also an ideal last-mile commute. Electric mobility is a key piece of this puzzle and so we’ve also rolled out hybrid e-bikes recently”.

Bergamont India has partnered with ‘The Cycle Worx’ to open its first exclusive store. The experiential retail format is designed to enhance consumer journey. Based on Bergamont’s global guidelines, the store has a vibrant design and aims to be a regional cultural cycling hub.

The brand does not believe in standard practice of ‘one size fits all’ and will emphasize on the importance of testing a bike before sealing the deal with its customers. Based on the brands research, half of the people stop cycling within few months of the bike purchase on account of discomfort or inconvenience due to selection of wrong product. The test bike programme will allow the customers to try different bikes and choose the most compatible one.

Apart from extensive range of bikes, the Bergamont i-Ride store will have high-quality merchandise and accessories for best cycling experience. The Bergamont retail partner ‘The Cycle Worx’ is well equipped with technically trained staff, bike servicing facilities and will host number of engagement activities such as ‘Bergamont i-Ride challenge’ and ‘Endurance cycling challenge’.

Sameer Meisheri, Retailer Partner and owner of ‘The Cycle Worx’ said, “We are honoured to be a part of the Bergamont family. Together we aim to provide a very vibrant and welcoming experience to our customers and educate them on the importance of buying the right cycle. Over the next few months, we have multiple engagement activities planned as well.”

Post the store launch, The Cycle Worx hosted a 15 km ride from Wadala to Dadar with cycling enthusiasts present from all across Mumbai. The brand team conducted interactive sessions with the participants and shared tips on choosing the right bike and gave away goodies.

Bergamont India plans to scale the i-Ride store format and open 15 such outlets in the next 3 years.

  1. Ebicycle sector is so much neglected & underdeveloped in India. Part of the reason may be peoples mentality, cycling is not considered very respectable, may be. Thanks to Corona Pandemic, now they are forced to think differently. Hope in the coming years if not months, we will get to see more & more Ebicycles in India.

I will appreciate your comments
