The second Grand Tour of the season marks Ursus’ return to the roads of the Tour de France. After a stage win at the Giro d’Italia, the Italian brand now aims to build on that success and confirm the strong performance of its PROXIMA Team Edition wheels.
Starting Saturday, July 5th, Ursus will be back at the world’s biggest cycling race, lining up at the 112th Tour de France alongside World Tour outfit Team Picnic-PostNL.
Following previous appearances at the Tour in 2020 and 2021 with Team TotalEnergies, the 2025 edition sees Ursus return to the French Grand Tour — and for the first time ever, in partnership with a UCI World Team, notably Team Picnic-PostNL. The goal is clear: to chase a historic first Tour de France stage win for the Vicenza-based manufacturer.
It’s a bold objective, but one that Ursus and Team Picnic-PostNL approach with confidence. The Giro d’Italia offered a glimpse of their potential, with Casper Van Uden sprinting to victory in Lecce. That success was built on solid legs — and solid gear — including the top-tier PROXIMA Team Edition carbon wheels developed by Ursus for the World Tour.
While the team’s focus will be on stage results, young British rider Oscar Onley will also have the chance to test himself in the general classification after his strong showing at the Tour de Suisse. In the sprints, Tobias Lund Andresen and Pavel Bittner will be looking to follow Van Uden’s footsteps, while hilly stages could see the likes of Warren Barguil — a former polka dot jersey winner — and Frank Van den Broek in action. The Tour roster is completed by Tim Naberman, Sean Flynn, and Niklas Märkl.
PROXIMA TEAM EDITION:
Developed with pro racing in mind, the PROXIMA Team Edition combines low weight, smooth rolling performance, and all-around reliability — a combination increasingly essential in today’s racing. The result is a reactive and versatile wheelset designed for maximum performance.
Available in four rim depths — 35, 40, 50, and 60 mm — PROXIMA wheels are built with unidirectional carbon fiber and feature a 23 mm internal width, optimized for 28C tires and above, both tubeless and clincher.
The exclusive U-RS Xeramik™ hub, made from Ergal 7075 aluminum alloy, is equipped with ceramic bearings for improved smoothness and responsiveness. The integrated Minihook technology helps reduce rim weight and enhances tire grip and stability in cornering.
BEHIND THE RACE:
Just like at the Giro, Ursus will bring fans inside the race through its behind-the-scenes project #BehindTheRace, offering a unique look at life inside a three-week Grand Tour.
The content series continues at the Tour de France with new photo stories produced by the Poci’s Pix team. Three chapters — one per week — will be released on the brand’s social media channels (Instagram and Facebook) and via the Ursus Newsletter (sign up at ursus.it).
