CYCLE RIDE WITH SIX VISIONARY CYCLISTS

CYCLE RIDE WITH SIX VISIONARY CYCLISTS

Do you remember the poem ‘The Blind Men And The Elephant’ by John Godfrey Saxe, where six blind men were partially exposed to an elephant and had their own interpretations on what an elephant would be like. In the story, each blind man created his own version of reality and were correct in their narrations based on the limited exposure to the object. The moral of the story tells us that each individual truth maybe partially true but it is not the ultimate truth. Continue reading “CYCLE RIDE WITH SIX VISIONARY CYCLISTS”

CYCLING DOUBLE SEAT

CYCLING DOUBLE SEAT

STREET CYCLIST OF MUMBAI.

For a city without any favorable cycling infrastructure to ride in pairs is beyond ones imagination. But I am misunderstood like so many of you since there exists many cyclists who are going double these days. It feels like a mini Amsterdam is thriving in the backstreets of Mumbai. Am saying this with confidence and excitement to have seen two and even three people sharing the same bicycle. What is common for Amsterdammers is special for Mumbai city. Simply because this city is far away from the concept of a dedicated cycle track which would encourage safe and excessive use of bicycles.  Continue reading “CYCLING DOUBLE SEAT”

BUS STOPS IN BALLARD ESTATE

BUS STOPS IN BALLARD ESTATE

The green grass on the bus stop roof is by no means India’s initiative against global warming. Its probably an unintentional outcome of possible negligence by maintenance unit of BEST (Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport Undertaking) bus services responsible for running public transport in Mumbai. The growing wild grass also affirms that this year Mumbai recorded high rainfall along with many other parts of the country. The little mint green door gives an artistic look to an onlooker and from a distance the elements appear as a single unit. This is one of the few old bus stops which have survived the test of times and are operational in Ballard Estate, a business district near the Fort area. Motorised bus services started in 1926 with the first bus service running between Afghan Church and Crawford market. Ever since, this means of conveyance managed to firmly establish its foothold in the city.

WHY DOGS CHASE CYCLIST: CHAPTER 3

WHY DOGS CHASE CYCLIST: CHAPTER 3

Globally cycling community is quite large and well dispersed with diverse cycling experiences. WHY DOGS CHASE CYCLIST: CHAPTER 2

WHY DOGS CHASE CYCLIST: CHAPTER 2

Dogs and Humans have been friends from many centuries. Unlike any other animal, humans are more comfortable to share love, space, food and even toys with dogs. In urban cities, people adopt dogs and offer free shelter despite high real estate cost. Some dogs are fortunate to enjoy facilities like open spaces and gardens in the backyard of farm houses in the country sides. There are affluent owners who invest hundreds of dollars for grooming their pets. Continue reading “WHY DOGS CHASE CYCLIST: CHAPTER 2”

WHY DOGS CHASE CYCLIST: CHAPTER 1

WHY DOGS CHASE CYCLIST: CHAPTER 1

One day when I was commuting back home from a meeting late afternoon a dog appeared from no where and came charging at me aggressively. I stopped pedaling to slow down but the stray kept his momentum. I got off the bike in a hurry as a precautionary measure otherwise I would have landed at a nearby dispensary for sure. No cyclist would like to get bitten by a dog. Even though I was pretending to be strong that moment but internally fear had overpowered my courage. Continue reading “WHY DOGS CHASE CYCLIST: CHAPTER 1”
